DuraMon in a nutshell
DuraMon at a glance: What we offer and why It matters
Confronting ageing infrastructure
In order to keep the infrastructure safe and operational and to optimize maintenance planning, a new approach is being adopted: predictive maintenance.
Refurbishment concrete corrosion monitoring system
Sika has joined forces with DuraMon, an ETH Zurich spin-off company, specializing in robust and long-term stable, structural health and corrosion monitoring solutions for reinforced concrete structures.
Articles
SMAR 2017: Durability monitoring of reinforced concrete
In this work, Ag/AgCl ion-selective electrodes (Ag/AgCl ISE), used as chloride sensor, and thermally oxidized iridium electrodes (IrOx), used as pH sensor, have been developed to be embedded in concrete. Both sensors were calibrated in solutions simulating the concrete environment and tested in mortar samples in the laboratory. The results obtained show that the studied electrodes can be successfully used to monitor chloride concentrations and changes in pH in the concrete pore solution.
CE Papers: The role of durability monitoring in taking infrastructure maintenance to the level of industry 4.0
This contribution focuses on corrosion and durability monitoring of reinforced concrete structures. It is discussed how monitoring can play an important role in the diagnosis of the condition of a structure, as well as in predicting the future evolution of material’s ageing and related deterioration processes.
Corrosion monitoring in reinforced concrete buildings smarter, cheaper, safer and more sustainable Maintenance and repair solutions
This article discusses the relevance the monitoring of corrosion processes in concrete structures. Data from field projects are used as the basis for optimized corrosion diagnosis and prognosis and thus optimize lead maintenance strategies.
SMAR 2017: Novel sensor for non-destructive durability monitoring in reinforced concrete
Reinforced concrete is generally a durable material; however, it is also subjected to various degradation mechanisms, amongst them, corrosion of the reinforcing steel is the most common one. In this work, we present a novel sensor to be embedded in concrete and to monitor simultaneously the main parameters that lead to corrosion initiation, namely pH and chloride concentration.

Detect corrosion early DuraMons with condition monitoring
The right time for repairing reinforced concrete structures is crucial in order to reduce costs and ensure safety. However, repair measures or the underlying damage mechanisms make it difficult for owners to use resources efficiently.
Early corrosion detection with DuraMon's condition monitoring
The Swiss infrastructure already has a high level age reached. Repairs to various buildings cannot be avoided. You need to be planned in such a way that the structures are as can be maintained cost-effectively and for a long time and safely without major restrictions on use.
